Douz is a small oasis town in the midst of the desert, reached from Tozeur by crossing Chott el Jerid. Our journeys stop for the local market and lunch and, on the eight day journey, a camel ride if you wish. The town hosts the Festival of the Sahara, with camel races, music and dance.

Visiting Douz
Douz is a small oasis town in the midst of the desert. On the eight day journey the stop is for the local market and, if you wish, a camel ride in the desert, before the road turns to Matmata. On the ten and eleven day journeys there is time for the market and for lunch before the departure further south into the desert, where the paved road ends and the desert track to the camp begins. The town is also the home of the Festival of the Sahara, where you can see camel races, traditional music and dance.
